Modular Belt conveyors, explained

What is a modular belt conveyor?

A modular belt conveyor carries product on a belt made of interlocking plastic modules joined by hinge rods, instead of one continuous sheet of fabric. Because the belt is built from small links, it can turn corners, climb in a spiral and run up an incline as one continuous line. A damaged section is replaced module by module rather than by re-splicing the whole belt. The rigid, open plastic surface is quick to clean, which is why modular belt is the usual choice for pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics lines.

Which modular belt layout does a line need?

It depends on the path the product has to take. KFlexiTrack builds nine modular belt types. Straight runs product in a line. L-type turns it through 90° and U-type through 180°. C-type and Z-type change level within a single run, and Spiral lifts product through several levels, 2 to 5 metres, in a small footprint. Radius Modular follows a curve while holding product orientation, and Inclined Modular climbs from 7.5° to 60° on a gripped belt. Modular Belt is the general-purpose straight-and-curve build, up to 1200 mm wide.

What sizes and speeds are standard?

The FlexiTrack types (Straight, L, C, U, Z and Spiral) run on 65, 85 or 105 mm belt, from 1 to 50 metres long, at 5 to 40 m/min, on stainless steel SS 304 or aluminium frames. The wider Modular, Radius and Inclined builds run 65 to 1200 mm wide and 0.5 to 10 metres long at 5 to 30 m/min. Their frames come in SS 304, mild steel or aluminium, with flat-top, perforated, cleated or friction-top belt. All take 220 V or 415 V at 50 Hz, with the drive on either side, at a working height of 700 to 900 mm set to the line.

Can a modular belt conveyor be built to our layout?

Yes. Every KFlexiTrack conveyor is built to the application, not picked from stock. The work starts with a study of the product and the line, then a layout, GA drawings and a 3D CAD model, all signed off before a single sheet is cut. Lengths, widths, heights, drive side and finish are set to your floor, and the frames are cut, bent, machined and welded in-house in Goa. KFlexiTrack then installs, aligns and commissions the line on site and trains the operators.

Does KFlexiTrack supply conveyors outside India?

Yes. KFlexiTrack supplies customers across India and exports conveyors abroad. Every machine is designed, built and run-in at the works in Ponda, Goa before it is dispatched. For an export enquiry, send the product, the rate it has to move at, the floor plan and the destination country through the contact page, or message the works on WhatsApp at +91 93258 43201.

What does a quote need, and how long does it take?

Send the product, the rate it has to move at, and the floor plan. From those, KFlexiTrack comes back with a layout, a specification and a price, normally within five working days. Product photos, drawings and the machines the conveyor has to meet all shorten the first reply. For anything urgent, call the works on +91 93258 43201. After hand-over, spares, preventive maintenance and retrofits are handled for the life of the machine.

Drawn before it is cut

Application study, layout and general arrangement drawings are produced in-house for every type in the family, then the machine is fabricated, run-in and commissioned on the same drawing.
