Spiral Modular Conveyor, explained
What is a modular spiral conveyor?
A modular spiral conveyor raises or lowers product between levels on a modular plastic belt that runs in a continuous helix, so a climb of several metres takes little more floor space than the spiral itself. Because the belt is made of small interlocking modules, it follows the curve of the spiral without a transfer at each turn. The KFlexiTrack spiral lifts product 2 to 5 metres and runs in either direction, so one machine can carry product up a level or bring it back down.
What sizes and speeds does the spiral conveyor come in?
The belt is 65, 85 or 105 mm wide, and the conveying length runs from 1 to 50 metres, with the height set between 2 and 5 metres to the layout. Speed is 5 to 40 m/min, fixed or variable. It runs on single-phase or three-phase power at 220 V or 415 V, 50 Hz, through a direct, chain or belt drive, with the motor mounted on the right or the left.
What products can a spiral conveyor carry?
A spiral conveyor carries unit products that sit steadily on a flat modular belt: boxes, bottles and vaccine bottles, blister packs, tablets and capsules, biscuits, nuts, snacks, trays and personal care items. That puts it on food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics lines, and in e-commerce and warehousing, wherever product has to change level in a tight space.
What is the spiral conveyor built from?
The frame is stainless steel SS 304 or aluminium, finished hard-anodised, bead-blasted or matt, and it stands on foot rests or a tripod base. It assembles simply and the belt is quick to replace. Every spiral is fabricated in-house at the KFlexiTrack works in Ponda, Goa, India.
